City College and Brighton Racecourse Partnership Continues

Tue, Jul 9, 2013

Students from City College Brighton and Hove working on a project at Brighton Racecourse to improve accommodation for stable boys and girls recently had their work praised by partners supporting the initiative.

Brighton Racecourse has consulted with a number of governing bodies on the project which will undergo several stages, in order to meet the highest of standards. The project provides practical, hands-on training for all the students involved.

"The accommodation is really starting to take shape and our Carpentry and Electrical students have been getting excellent experience of what their working lives are likely to involve and how the different trades interact in the construction industry," said Michael Buckman, City College's Director of Building Trades.

Peter Bentman from Brighton Tools & Fixings said: "We're always keen to support the next generation of tradespeople in the community and we've always backed the College so it seemed like the perfect project for us to get involved in."

Matthew Bromley, Sales Executive for WF Electrical said: "These guys are the future and it's great that this project is getting them out of the classroom and seeing a project through from planning to implementation."

"It's great to see this project progressing so well", Stuart Dorn, General Manager at Brighton Racecourse. "Its a fantastic venture unique to our industry, which will reflect the importance we give to the owners, the trainers and caring for their teams when they are here at Brighton Racecourse, as well as our City partnerships."
