Hughes lands another double at Brighton

Tue, Sep 10, 2013

Champion jockey Richard Hughes continued his red-hot form at Brighton with a double here on Monday afternoon, taking his tally to seven winners from his last 15 rides at the course.

Hughes kicked off proceedings with a winner in our opening race, the Brasserie Italian Brighton Marina Fillies' Handicap aboard Jane Chapple-Hyam's 8-11 favourite Saskia's Dream.

The Jockeys Championship leader then completed a quickfire double when landing the spoils in the 32 Red British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes on the Richard Hannon-trained 2-1 favourite Juan Alonso.

Operating at an impressive strike rate of 47% over the last three meetings at the track Hughes has certainly been the jockey to follow of late in his quest for back-to-back jockeys titles and we hope to see him back in action when we next race on Monday, 16th September.
