One week left to register eligible yearlings for Plus 10

Tue, Dec 9, 2014

There is just one week left to meet the second Plus 10 registration deadline for 2013 born horses which are eligible for the Plus 10 bonus scheme.

The 'Yearling Registration' fee must be paid by 15 December 2014 for horses to remain in the scheme.

Plus 10 is a £5.5 million bonus scheme which will see fully qualified two and three-year-old horses race for £10,000 bonuses across more than 550 races staged in Great Britain and Ireland once the scheme is fully operational.

The approaching deadline follows a successful few weeks in the sales ring for Plus 10 registered horses which sold for more money than non-registered horses at both the Goffs November and Tattersalls December Foal Sales.

At the Goffs November Foal Sale, 17-20 November, Plus 10 registered horses sold for a median of €27,500 which was 37% more than non-registered lots. The overall sale median was €22,000.

At the Tattersalls December Foal Sale, 26-29 November, Plus 10 registered horses sold for a median of £26,000, which was 18% more than non-registered lots. The overall sale median was £25,000

Plus 10 Communications Manager, Sheena Coffey, urged owners of horses, and trainers with yearlings recently arrived in their yards, to check Plus 10 registration status and to pay the second registration fee for eligible horses by 15 December.

"I would encourage all owners to ensure their horse remains a part of the Plus 10 bonus scheme by paying the second registration fee over the next seven days.
"By meeting this second registration payment you are on track to enhancing your racing returns right across your horse's two and three-year-old seasons.

"As witnessed at the recent Goffs and Tattersalls foal sales, there was strong demand for Plus 10 registered lots as astute buyers chased those horses which could offer a greater return on investment once they hit the racetrack."

Owners and trainers of 2013 born horses are encouraged to visit the plus10bonus.com website to confirm registration status and download a registration form.

A horse is only eligible for the scheme if the 'Foal Registration' fee has already been paid.
