John Smiths Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy 2015

Tue, Aug 4, 2015

The 2015 John Smith's Brighton Mile Challenge Trophy promises to be an exhilarating feature race on the opening day of Brighton's three day Festival of Racing.

Currently leading the Stobart British Flat Jockeys Championship, on form jockey, Silvestre De Sousa, takes the ride on the Michael Blake-trained Pick A Little, who has not only recently won on his last two outings but is also one of two course and distance winners in the nine-horse line-up, the other being Shifting Star. A further two horses, Swiss Cross and Freddy With A Y, are previous course winners while it may be worth noting that Hillgrove Angel was a beaten favourite last time out.

With the going currently Good (Good to Firm in places), the ground looks set to suit Pick A Little who this year has proved consistently successful on Good and Good to Firm ground. In addition, Freddy With A Y, the highest rated horse in the race, has already won twice this year on Good ground and Jockey, Hector Crouch, claims 7lbs. Representing the esteemed racing establishment, Goldolphin, Muqarred won on his first outing of the season under today's Jockey, Dane O'Neill, on Good to Firm ground.

As a final point, note that horses with a high draw often do well in this competitive handicap that guarantees to be a thrilling feature race.
