What's happening at Brighton

Mon, Feb 14, 2011

Brighton Racecourse has announced two new sponsors for the 2011 season, providing a boost to help ensure that the annual three-day August Festival will be the biggest and best since its inception in 2004.

Frosts Cars and Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club are the latest local organisations to partner with the racecourse in deals worth in the region of £20,000 combined.

Frosts Cars will become the title sponsor of Ladies Day on Thursday 4th August, a key event at Brighton that attracts around 5,000 visitors each year.

Brighton and Hove Albion have signed a three year deal to host Albion in the Community Day at the course. Friday 5th August will kick off a weekend of celebrations for the football club, with its new stadium due to open the following day. Fans will be able to enjoy discounted entry to the racecourse and have the chance to meet some of their heroes, past and present.

Brighton Racecourse General Manager Callum MacKay said: "We are delighted that two of the most high profile and successful businesses in Sussex have decided to become our partners. It has always been my long term aim to re-establish and develop our relationships with the local community and I can't think of two better organisations to partner with.

"Frosts will be celebrating their 60th anniversary in 2012 and are a fantastic example of a successful local business and I don't need to tell anyone about how important the football club is to the city. 2011 will be a landmark year for the club and we are delighted that we will be able to play our part by getting their celebratory weekend off to a flying start.

"We are looking forward to the new season and will mark our opening meeting with the launch of our newly refurbished Silks restaurant."

The flat season at Brighton begins on April 15th and will host 20 meetings throughout the summer until the season finale on October 20th. New themed days have been introduced for 2011, including music nights on June 21st with The Magic of Take That and 26th August with a VIP special guest.
