What's happening at Brighton

Brighton Racecourse is proving its commitment to expanding its conference and events offering with the appointment of a new Events Manager.

Samantha Creswell has joined from events agency The Conference People, where she was Sales Director, responsible for sourcing new business and looking after existing clients all over the country. Samantha has also previously worked at London-based First Network and Ian Allan Event Management in Shepperton.

The appointment comes as horseracing is thrust further into the spotlight, with Royal Ascot attracting the world's media and competition ramping up in the British Champions Series.
Samantha moved to Eastbourne from Staines in 2007 when her fiancé relocated with work. She's a keen runner and recently completed her first marathon in aid of Mencap.

Samantha said: "I'm thrilled to be joining the team at a time when events at the racecourse are getting bigger and better all the time. I've spent 10 years working agency side and was keen to bring my experience together in a role working within a venue.

"I think the location of the racecourse is a huge selling point and the diverse range of events that take place here really appealed to me. In the last three months alone the racecourse has hosted the Sugarcraft Exhibition, Wendy's World dolls' house exhibition, Extreme Sports Show, Oktoberfest beer festival, antiques fairs and The VW Brighton Breeze, to name a few. I'm really looking forward to putting the racecourse on the events map."

Callum Mackay, General Manager at Brighton Racecourse said: "We're delighted to welcome Samantha to the team and I'm sure she will be a great asset at a time when we're growing our non-racing events offering.

"We want to make Brighton Racecourse synonymous with must-attend events and conferences, festivals and exhibitions. We enjoy an extremely convenient location just minutes from the city centre and the seafront and we want to make sure that we're creating events for local residents to enjoy as well as for businesses in the region to benefit from."
