Racecourse Seafood Caterer Barrie Cope Dies

Wed, Jan 4, 2012

Barrie Cope, who ran a seafood catering outlet at Brighton for many years, has died aged 74. Barrie became a well known face at many Southern racecourses including Fontwell Park and Plumpton. He set up his first seafood operation 30 years ago and operated 22 outlets in his heyday including events at Earls Court and Olympia. Paying tribute on the stable's website, champion trainer Richard Hannon said:"Barrie did so much to raise the level of racecourse catering and whenever we went racing his fish bar was our first port of call. The Copes' seafood was different class."
