Vintage Nation Festival

Mon, May 28, 2012

The founders of the UK's largest vintage marketplace [Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair] launch a phenomenal new event in Brighton this Summer, celebrating fashion, food, music and glamour from a century gone by.

An affordable, exciting one-day event, Vintage Nation will take over Brighton Racecourse on Saturday 9th June. Incorporating entertainment, live acts and two vintage marketplaces, the event looks set to be a mecca for fashion fans, vintage enthusiasts, families and cash-strapped revellers from all over the UK.

Setting-up shop for only one day, the exterior of the Racecourse will be transformed; vendors in their vintage vehicles will be selling food from around the globe. A man-made beach, featuring deck-chairs and umbrellas offers the ideal space to relax. From affordable drinks on the Crabbie's green to our very own vintage car show, a whole host of activities are on offer.

Indoors at the Racecourse, we are offering a vintage shopper's dream; two vintage marketplaces showcase fashion, furniture and accessories from the 1920s with traders offering discounts, savings and tips. Two giant music rooms will play hits from throughout the years, with our 'Decades' room playing a new era every hour. From rock and roll to Vaudeville, burlesque to live acts, you will never be short of something to do, whatever the era you're into.

Fusing vintage with gastronomy, food and drink will take pride of place! From tea in china in the parlour to G&Ts in the hidden speakeasy, world food, finger sandwiches and an ice-cream on the beach, prices remain affordable [and no belly shall be left unattended!]

In addition to food, music and retail therapy, beauty takes centre stage in an area curated by Hairport. Featured in the Observer as the beauty ones-to-watch, the team will be dishing out victory rolls and lippie as well as tutorials to boot [whilst offering I-pads and vintage magazines for shoppers to relax with!]

Describing her decision to host the event, fair founder and former celebrity stylist Judy Berger quotes that a love of Brighton and the current climate drove her to the decision; "several years ago, the public had the pick of how they spent their summer," adds Judy, "but now with a yo-yoing economy and the higher cost of living, a holiday can seem unacceptable. Founding events with affordability at their core, we wanted to do something unique." £10 tickets, affordable stalls and a bill which stretches the pennies, Vintage Nation looks set to do this. "We all love Brighton," Judy remarks, "and couldn't think of a more suitable city; fun-loving, fashion-forward, family-orientated and friendly - the perfect seaside setting to launch summer 2012."
