New Matinee Fixture - Free Admission

Tue, Sep 4, 2012

Brighton has been awarded one of six new 'matinee' race meetings announced by the British Horseracing Authority. Admission will be free of charge.

The meeting on Friday 21st September will start at 12 noon and finish at 2.35pm. Gates open 11am.

The fixtures will take place on six consecutive Fridays as a trial to increase betting turnover. Brighton's meeting is the first one in the trial.

Ruth Quinn, the BHA's director of racing said:"These fixtures will provide us with an opportunity to trial the concept of showing British racing during a lunchtime slot in the Autumn. Betting shops are traditionally busy at these times and bookmakers have indicated they would like British racing to be offered at this time, as it is during the winter months. We will measure the outcome of the trial and consider any future matinee fixtures once we've had the opportunity to review the feedback and data we obtain."
