With over 250 years of racing history, Brighton Racecourse has a significant past and is working hard to ensure it has a sustainable future. Across the racecourse itself, our buildings and event spaces, we are working hard on our carbon footprint to ensure we are playing our part, which includes committing to achieving zero waste, eliminating single use plastic and working with responsible and ethical suppliers.
✅ We have achieved Zero waste to Landfill across 9 sites with a target for all sites by 2025, including 50% of waste to recycling by 2026
✅ Food waste collections to create bio fuels are already in place, with further focus on food wastage across the business
✅ We use recycled and reusable packaging wherever we can
✅ All our tea and coffee is ethically sourced from responsible suppliers
✅ Eggs purchased are alliance stamped and Red Tractor approved
✅ All our meat is responsibly sourced and 80% Red Tractor approved
✅ All fish is sourced responsibly with suppliers linked and certified to MSC
✅ 100% sustainably sourced cocoa in all of our chocolate purchases
✅ All our suppliers are accredited and audited yearly with their key CSR policies a priority including modern slavery
✅ We are aiming for British Seasonal sourced fruit and vegetables on the menus with a higher plant-based menu choice across the business by 2024
✅ LED lighting is being implemented across the sites and we have a commitment to continue investing in upgrading all lighting to LED across the group
✅ We have reduced fuel usage in catering with the use of recyclable eco burner fuel cans
✅ ARC has a commitment for all new build developments to have solar power
✅ We have eliminated plastic straws, cups, cutlery and food packaging and utilize ECO cups at large events
✅ All our bottled drinks are 100% recyclable PET bottles and reusable crockery is used for tea and coffee refreshments in meetings
✅ Further reduction of SUP in all areas by 2025
