Mondays, but make them fun (no meetings allowed): Monday 23 August brings an afternoon of Flat racing to Brighton Racecourse. It's horse racing in August with warm sunshine and the sea glittering below.
The horses are at their sharpest now. Watch them handle the turn and then fly downhill to the line, with the whole hill cheering them on. Get down to the rail and you'll feel the thud of hooves through your feet.
There's loads of outdoor space, good food and cold drinks on hand. The Downs on one side, the Channel on the other and a winner (hopefully) in the middle. Bring the family, a few friends or the whole street. Pick a horse each, put a bit of pride on the line and see who's buying the ice creams on the way home. It's the best kind of bank holiday warm-up. Children 17 and under go free* to the races when accompanied by an adult (*exclusions may apply). Children do not require a ticket in advance and a free ticket will be issued on the day.
