Unfortunately, four races on this afternoon’s card had to be abandoned. This was due to a false patch of ground on the track which, whilst not a problem on inspection this morning, deteriorated over the course of the afternoon. Stewards made the decision that the final race of the day, at 16:40, should still go ahead as scheduled as this specific area of ground would not be raced on.
We, of course, would like to apologise for the inconvenience this has caused everyone at Brighton today, and confirm that, as a gesture of goodwill, all ticket holders will be entitled to two complimentary passes to any fixture next season.
Similarly, Jockeys who did not otherwise get a ride will be compensated and Owners with runners in the four abandoned races will receive a goodwill payment towards their travelling costs also.
Again, we would like to convey our apologies for the situation this afternoon, but of course in all situations the safety of participants are an absolute priority.
