On Friday 20th September, a devastating fire swept through a block of flats on Pankhurst Road, opposite the racecourse, leaving many people without a place to live. Whilst thankfully no one was hurt, this tragedy has obviously been incredibly disruptive to residents lives. It’s been really amazing to see how the community has come together to support those effected, and we thought it was only right that Brighton Racecourse contributed to a cause so close to our venue and our hearts.
To help raise vital funds, we’ll be hosting the Pankhurst Community Festival, organised by The Together Project, on Sunday 10th November. Not only will it be a great day out, but a crucial opportunity to help raise money for those people affected by the fire. There will be activities running from 10am-5pm which are perfect for adults and children alike.
Brighton Racecourse will be packed with a range of stalls where you and your children can come and create beautiful things, such as jewellery, do some glass painting or make something amazing from nature, such as a flower crown. There will also be a variety of stalls where you can get a makeover, from face painting and henna to glitter tattoos. We will be hosting a pop-up cinema, as well as music with a raffle running throughout the day. There’s plenty more to keep you entertained throughout the day, so come down to Brighton Racecourse on the 10th November and show your support!
All funds raised from ticket sales and stall holders will be donated back to the Pankhurst residents.
